ABOUT ARTISTS 4 ISRAEL
Artists 4 Israel prevents the spread of anti-Israel bigotry and helps heal communities and people affected by hate and terror. We are an international network of artists representing 32 countries engaged in acts of social change in Israel, the United States and around the world.
Our Aid and Advocacy Missions to Israel cover bomb shelters in communities in need with massive works of art, cover the scars of terror survivors, provide educational projects for children in low-income communities and otherwise support Israelis in their efforts to peacefully co-exist, provide a forum for world famous artists to see and share thoughts about Israel outside of misinformation directly to their millions of followers.
Our Healing Arts Kits are an emergency, psychological, first-aid kit that slows or, even, stops the onset of new cases of post-traumatic stress disorder in children living under the constant threat of rocket attacks.
Our Campus Programs are a megaphone for Jewish and pro-Israel groups, helping them share their messages to thousands of students, create a positive reputation on campus and build coalitions with their non-Jewish allies.
Our Art Over Hate: Antisemitism programs, like our pro-Israel work 13 years ago, fill large needs and holes in the current efforts to combat antisemitism. Our work eschews “shame and blame” tactics for positive and hopeful efforts, builds upon success and community involvement, utilizes art and creativity and, most importantly, pulls Holocaust education and antisemitism prevention out of museums and textbooks and into the public space through spectacle and show.

ABOUT FERNANDO “SKI” ROMERO
Fernando “Ski” Romero is a New York based graffiti artist and born and raised New Yorker where he continues to live and work. Beginning in 1990, Ski started off his foray into graffiti as many of the original graffiti artists did by ‘bombing’ New York City subway cars – quickly moving on to trucks and streets as the major crackdown on graffiti began long before it was considered the artwork it is today. Being in the birthplace and mecca of what was then a fairly unknown, underground, and unaccepted art form, he knew he was part of a special culture that was growing and expanding into something larger than life. In an effort to hone his skills as an artist, he was accepted into and attended the prestigious Parsons School of Design. Starting in 2005, he began selling his artwork in the streets of downtown SoHo until 2009, when multiple galleries started to take notice of his style and aesthetic and granted him his first significant exhibitions – showing alongside legends of the graffiti world like CRASH, Lady Pink, Tats Cru, Warhol, James Bullough, and many others.
Inspired by the canvas that was presented to him from a young age, the city and the people in it and their many different layers, he creates the same feelings through photography, mixed media, silkscreen, and spray paint. Large scale murals are juxtaposed with fine art canvases and hand-pulled prints that tell a story of his life and experiences - where he has been and what he has been through. One must pull apart the many layers to fully understand the works, beginning with abstract masterpieces that are then overlaid with buildings, graphical elements, and finally traditional graffiti that masks the walls underneath. Creation is a race against time, because eventually the present becomes a distant memory, and the moment only lingers on and continues to exist through the work. He strives to inspire the viewer to look deeper and more carefully at the world around them as they discover beauty in unusual places, like the raw underbelly and industrial flavor of the city that only graffiti can truly capture and convey.
Since those early exhibitions, Fernando’s career has been one of great acclaim and success, commercially and critically. In addition to countless group and solo shows in galleries, his work has been featured on TV in House of Lies, Californication, and The Ray Donovan show. He has collaborated with many major brands, publicly and privately, including but not limited to: Reebok, Gatorade, Davidoff, Stella Artois, Microsoft, New Amsterdam Vodka, Nike, and Jay-Z (Roc-A-Fella Records). In addition, he has a penchant for philanthropy and has found a second love in curating shows with his fellow graffiti artists to raise money for charities, something which he hopes to continue to bring together art, music, and experiences for great causes. His work can be seen anywhere from the gritty streets of New York, to taxi cabs, to public murals in the city and private corporate headquarters, and of course in galleries and numerous prestigious and private collections around the world.
Today you can find Fernando "SKI" Romero's work at Pop International Galleries in Soho, NYC.
ABOUT ARTISTS 4 ISRAEL’S BAR MITZVAH
A B'nai Mitzvah celebrates as lives mature from adolescence to adulthood, obtain new rights as well as responsibilities and assume new obligations within their community.
Artists 4 Israel was founded in 2009 to fill needs within the Jewish and pro-Israel community space that were not being met. We were outsiders and quickly our unique programming, style and effectiveness made us disruptors and “agents of change”. People responded to our new work and organizations were forced to change their programs and behaviors when they saw the success of ours.
After 13 years, we are still as new and compelling as before but we are honored to be recognized for our achievements and iconic programming. We are thankful for our partners, supporters and to be considered a premiere organization, mentioned alongside the legacy organizations that define non-profit work for the past 100 years. At our B'nai Mitzvah, we gladly welcome this new maturity.
We proudly take our place as a necessary member of the core of advocacy and aid organizations. With the utmost seriousness, we embrace our new responsibilities to continue to lead the way, to support and educate our peers about our successful strategies and to continue to prevent the spread of antisemitic and anti-Israel bigotry and help heal those affected by hate.
